A little over a year after I settled into this Country, on November 15, 1989, I made that leap of faith to
start a business. I knew only a handful
of people then, three children(4th one came later), and my husband. We had jobs, but we were struggling financially. We did not
even own a car and then it dawned on me that
we had to do something.
Thank God for newspapers and those small-boxed
ads. Though, I was looking for a
part-time job, something better came along - Avon and owning my own
business....Being my own boss (#bosslady), and having a financial
freedom (#bosslife). It was not easy but hard work is all I ever knew.
From the get going, I knew I wanted to make it work. I love selling. I have been selling since I was in 5th grade. I would make coconut candy every night, bagged(wrap) them and sold them in school next day. My cousin who was in middle school then would take a few dozen to her school. So, for every dozen she pays me like a $1 while she sold them for $1.20. I did not know that I was having my own down line then or maybe call it franchising. We were just having fun and making money.
This transferred into my Avon business and I am glad that I did not go to work another job for someone else. What can I say? It
has been a journey! I would not trade
these past 27 years for anything else.
What came along is more than the money earned......The friendships, the
courage, the confidence, the knowledge, the strength, the believe in self, and
most importantly, the blessings from above.
My goal and prayer is that I will celebrate my 30th year with Avon as a FULL TIME ENTREPRENEUR. So, I have two years to make things happen and with God on my side, dedication and believe, it shall be so. Amen.
My thanks to my family (ah!! those boxes in the house and garage) for their support and understanding, my Manager, my partners, my fellow Avon Reps who coach, train and inspire me daily, my Corporate support and my awesome customers!
Yes, I said HELLO! Avon and you
opened the door! Thank you, New Avon.
